Goiter

There are 3 different methods in goitre treatment: drug treatment, radioactive iodine treatment and surgical treatment. Patients with hormone deficiency are given thyroid hormone medication. After hormone levels are normalized by administering medications that suppress the production of excess hormone, which is hormone excess, surgery or radioactive iodine treatment is performed. Surgical treatment is usually performed when the hormone levels are normal and usually nodules are seen. Surgical treatment removes some or all of the thyroid gland. It is important to protect the tissues adjacent to the thyroid gland during surgery. In addition, care must be taken not to leave traces in the surgical area.
