Meniscus

The treatment of meniscal tears in young people is mostly a surgeon. Meniscuses have no ability to heal spontaneously, except for some very small, non-full-thickness tears. In patients with obvious complaints, the meniscus rupture is tried to be repaired by surgical intervention, and if the torn repair is not appropriate, the torn part is removed.

In elderly patients, meniscus tears are usually accompanied by arthrosis (wear, tear, arthritis) in the knee. In this case, intervention only in meniscus rupture may not solve the problem completely. Your doctor will decide if you want to suppress symptoms with medication, intra-articular injections, arthroscopic surgery, or arthroscopy plus bone-repair surgery.
