Waist shifts

It is appropriate to monitor stress fractures and waist shifts that do not cause complaints. Resting, pain relief and antiinflammatory drugs, temporary use of corsets and physical therapy methods may provide relief in complaints. Epidural or foraminal injections can be added to the treatment if there is leg pain and numbness due to nerve compression associated with low back pain.

Stress fractures seen during adolescence should be treated surgically if they cause pain and limit their activities. The most appropriate method in surgical treatment is determined by your doctor. Usually the preferred method is to fix the fracture site with screws or hooks, supported by fresh bone grafts. With this method, which can be defined as a kind of fracture repair, a short-term improvement is achieved and patients are able to regain their old activities without any restriction in waist movements.

In advanced shifts, the disease also leads to unresponsive complaints with drug therapy, findings of nerve compression (low foot, urinary incontinence) and surgical treatment if progress is required. In the surgical treatment, the nerves in the shear zone are released and the vertebrae are fixed together and the progression of the sliding is prevented. The operation can be done from the front or rear or from both sides. The rehabilitation programs implemented after the surgery support the healing process.

Resting, pain relief and anti-inflammatory drugs, use of temporary corsets and physical therapy methods may be recommended if slip is mild in the treatment of waist shift. Epidural or foraminal injections can be added to the treatment if there is nerve entrapment with low back pain.

Surgical treatment options are considered in case of pain not exceeding drug treatment and additional applications. In the surgical treatment of waist slippage, the nerves in the slip region are liberated and the vertebrae are fixed to each other to prevent progression of the sliding. The operation can be done from the front or rear or from both sides. Postoperative rehabilitation programs can be useful in accelerating the healing process.
